Welcome to the 2021 Track and Field Season! We are excited to have this opportunity.
This week practice will be in the afternoon for all athletes. We still have the 6:30 to 7:30 AM time reserved and will likely use it in the future, just not the first week.
Meet on the track ready to practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday by 3:15 since there is no in person school. We will practice for about 1 ½ – 2 hours. Specialty areas might stay longer this first week.
Thursday and Friday will be a little different for students in school. Get to the track as soon as possible. The restrooms by the stadium will be open and bags can be placed in the big shed. We want to start as close to 3:30 as possible. We will practice for about 1 ½ hours. Specialty areas might stay longer this first week.
We will practice rain (snow) or shine. The only time we will cancel is for lightning. YOU must plan for the weather. We will be outside EVERYDAY.
You will check in with a manager at the start of every practice. Boys in one line and girls in the other.
You MUST do you the COVID Check IN prior to practice everyday and for every meet. We need this for contact tracing. Athletes can scan the QR code when they get to the field. If you will miss practice, you must complete the ABSENCE Reporting Form. Again, for contact tracing.
If an athlete has been asked to quarantine by the school, they will need to quarantine and miss practice or meets.
Masks are to be worn at all times except when competing. Athletes need to protect each other and coaches. Masks will be worn the entire time on bus trips.
This year has many restrictions. We are extremely limited on the number of athletes we can bring to most contests. If you sign up to be on the team you are not guaranteed participation in meets, although you can still participate in practices, according to restrictions. We do not have a JV team for track. Here is a message from Coach Wicker, just in case you did not read the email. Track 2021
Jerseys will be sold the week of April 9th. If you have an old East jersey, you are welcome to use that in place of purchasing a new one for this season. The new jerseys are $35.
The $20 Assessment Fee will be collected the first week of practice.
All checks should be made out to Duluth East.
Our first meet is at East on Saturday, April 10 at 10 AM. It will be open to all athletes. More details will be shared as we get closer.
