PRACTICES / MEET ATTENDANCE POLICY
We are scheduled to be at the gym from 3:30 to 5:30pm every day and will start practices in the gym.Captains will lead stretches, warm-ups and help get ready for the team meeting afterward. During the team meeting, attendance will be taken, announcements will be made, results posted, line-ups read, and other important information will be provided. Athletes will then break up into their event groups for their workouts.

There is a team meet schedule available in this booklet as well as a monthly event calendar online that can be printed and posted on the fridge at home. Please take a look at the event calendar and if there are any conflicts with meets or other events, please let your head coach know ASAP. It is the athlete’s responsibility to let the coach know if they are unable to attend a meet or practice due to a family event. Please plan any events around this schedule so the athlete can compete in all meets and attended all practices.Arranging your own life in order not to miss practices/meets will increase your success as an athlete.

If you are to miss a practice for any reason, your parent or teacher needs to provide a signed note explaining why. Making up a test, doctor appointment, illness, or family emergency are valid reasons. Communication is very important so please let your coach know what is going on.

You can submit your absence online anytime by going to the Team Management tab and then Submit Absence.

Athletes also need to let their teachers know that they will be gone due to track at least 2 days before they leave. This allows the teacher to gather materials/homework ahead of time or to make it up so that students do not fall behind on their school work. Please refer to the Academics First Program section on the website for more information.

Students must be in attendance at school in order to practice/compete in a meet that day.

Students who are excused for a sponsored event with a Leave School Pass may practice or compete on presentation of the permit to their coach. A student who has been suspended either in school or out of school may NOT participate in practices/contests and/or scheduled activities during the time of suspension.

IF YOU HAVE CONFLICTS WITH PRACTICES OR MEETS YOU NEED TO COMMUNICATE THESE TO YOUR INDIVIDUAL COACH IN ADVANCE! FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN NOT ATTENDING MEETS.

Simple Expectation: Be at every practice and every meet

PARTICIPATING IN OTHER SPORTS / ACTIVITIES
We encourage athletes to do multiple sports as this makes them an all-around better athlete. We do, however, expect that during the entire Track & Field season, Track is the only sport that the athlete is involved in. As a member of Track & Field, it is important that you realize that your personal choices affect other members of the team. Discuss additional activities involving time and energy with your coach prior to your involvement to ensure that neither you nor the team is adversely affected.
